Modern

Modern Theatre Dance is a diverse form of dance combining modern dance, jazz and other dance styles.

The school offers classes from Primary standard through to Advanced, following the I.S.T.D. (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing) syllabus.

At Primary standard the children’s work is based on natural movements: walking, running, skipping and jumping. The syllabus has been carefully designed to encourage a rapid response from beginners. Moving through the grades a dynamic style is evolved, with the focus on the students becoming disciplined and versatile dancers.

From Grade III standard, the students are encouraged to take a limbering and stretching class which solely concentrates on improving flexibility and technique.

Uniform requirements for Modern Dance from Primary to Grade 4 consist of a Navy Blue Catsuit or Navy Blue leotard and Lycra leggings. For Modern Dance we require children to dance bare footed.
